Superintendent Welcome Statement

It is my pleasure to welcome you to South Central Nebraska Unified School District.  The district proudly serves the communities of Clay Center, Deweese, Edgar, Fairfield, Glenvil, Lawrence, and Nelson.

Set apart for excellence, our students enjoy a dynamic and rigorous curriculum equipping them with college readiness skills and challenging them to be lifelong leaders.  With a 100 percent college acceptance rate, over 87 percent of our students go on to college. Additionally, 98 percent participate in at least one co-curricular activity.

We believe that every individual can learn and will grow as a learner when expectations are high and clear for all students to reach their highest potential.  In support of this belief, the district has provided a school issued iPads for all kindergarten and first grade students.  In addition, the district has purchased MacBook Air computers for all students in second through twelfth grade.

Students also benefit from increased individualized attention through a 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio.  Our quality staff averages 18 years of experience and is committed to collaborating to meet educational goals through the use of technology, interdisciplinary learning, and innovative teaching techniques. Additionally, the newly renovated Nebraska Center for Advanced Professional Studies (NCAPS) is a state-of-the-art facility built to enhance collaboration and profession-based learning.

Our students are dedicated to developing skills to be highly performing leaders.  Parents at South Central Unified #5 play an active role in monitoring their child's academic performance and work collaboratively and positively with staff to maximize their children's educational experience.  Consequently, our students are prepared to take increasing responsibility for their learning, decisions, and actions and continue to be recognized for their superior achievement.

Welcome to South Central Unified and join us as we continue to Prepare Together to Lead Forever.
